We Strive to Give Back to Our Community | PFY, Deer Park NY.

When your goal is to be welcoming to a community (intention as a new not-for-profit agency in Deer Park), yet wanting to provide an environment of privacy for your clients, thinking of a solution might not be easy.

In its all-glass “store front”, PFY, a division of Long Island Crisis Center that offers vital health and human services to youth and young adults, needed to ensure the space was warm and welcoming while also maintaining the privacy of its clients in order to promote engagement into services.

“I came upon New York Window Film Co., and even though I didn’t exactly know exactly what I needed or wanted, they listened to what I wanted to achieve and came up with the perfect solution: a window film that gave the privacy we needed while also allowing for the establishing of a warm and welcoming space. For youth who consistently face barriers in accessing services, I needed to ensure that we were not inadvertently doing the same thing. We couldn’t have done this without New York Window Film Co.,” says Devon Zappasodi, Project Director of PFY.

“Once a solution was developed, it was an absolute pleasure to work with New York Window Film Co. We had a pretty tight schedule because we wanted to kick start our services and programs within a couple of weeks of moving in,” continues Devon.  “They came, took measurements, did the installation without a hitch, parts free of charge and then we opened – right on time.”

Casper Cloaking Technology: Privacy + Transparency

In business, collaboration is everything – but creating the right balance between openness and privacy is a challenge:

Image result for Casper cloaking window film

Casper Cloaking Technology is an architectural film for glass walls that obscures the digital screens to the outside view.  It acts as a smart shield to ensure data privacy, while providing the peace of mind to collaborate freely.  This is a breakthrough that will unleash space design in the networked world.  Casper is the only cloaking technology of its kind.  You have to see it to believe it.

When applied to a glass wall or a window, Casper blacks out screens behind it. The transparent window film blocks light waves transmitted through LCD and LED screens. This makes them look like they’re turned off. Everything else in the room looks completely normal. While privacy screens have existed for laptops and individual monitors for quite sometime, Casper brings it to the architectural scale.

Designtex spent over two years collaborating with the furniture manufacturer Steelcase’s Workplace Futures division–a research group focused on understanding the future of work and developing products in response–on Casper. The film itself is about 5 millimeters thick and comes in rolls that are 54 inches wide. It’s applied to the inside of a glass wall just like any other window film, and an optional decal pattern–Designtex has 25 different options–can be added to the outside of the glass. Casper will cloak LCD and LED displays that are at least 42 inches wide, computer monitors, laptops, and some tablets and smartphones; it won’t work on projections, OLED screens, plasma screens, or passive 3D screens because they emit different types of light that the film’s surface can’t block.

Casper gives people both transparency in the workplace and confidentiality simultaneously. Plus, people know it works because they can see it in action. The smart shield ensures data privacy and provides people with the peace of mind to collaborate freely in any working environment.

PSEG Energy Efficiency Conference 2016

According to the US Department of Energy, up to twenty-five percent of our energy bills is likely due to windows. We all can make a difference every day. Being energy efficient is just one key component to having a commitment to combating climate change and saving money. We are looking forward to being an Exhibitor at PSEG Energy Efficiency Conference to network our business and learn how Long Island is getting involved to improve the current energy efficiency model.

During the event, we will highlight two films that fit the energy efficiency category: EnerLogic & 3M Thinsulate Film.

EnerLogic provides all year long benefits. These films give single pane windows the annual insulating performance of double pain windows. It’s surprising the only film on the market that offers this type of year-round performance. This film is the smarter way to save! EnerLogic adds 92% of more insulating power to existing windows which helps cut heating and cooling costs.

3M Thinsulate Film is warm yet lightweight, powerful yet thin. It helps trap body heat, while allowing moisture to escape. These films become an efficient insulator! The benefits of this film can be listed in a book but the three main results of having this film on your home is climate control, increase efficiency, and maintain appearance.

The window film industry is constantly growing. It’s our job to inform home owners and companies that window film can be a smart investment to consider. To follow our results at this conference please follow us on social media @nywindowfilm on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!

Window Film Company Donates to Lavelle School for the Blind

New York Window Film (NYWF), a 3M-authorized supplier and applicator of window film, donated and installed $1300 worth of window film for a project at Lavelle School for the Blind, a special education school for children who are visually impaired. Ironically, the project was designed to prevent sighted staffers at the school from walking into glass walls and doors. Using 3M Dusted Crystal film, NYWF applied “distraction markers” to glass walls and doors. These are colored designs or logos which alert passersby that a glass surface is ahead. See photos below.

Commenting on the donation, president of New York Window Film Steve Pesce said, “Glass can be dangerous, and we know how to make it safer. By using 3M Safety Film products we can achieve this. What’s more, giving back to the community is something we strive to provide.”

Since it’s founding in 1990, New York Window Film has installed over 6,000,000 sq ft of window film in thousands of homes and commercial buildings throughout the Metropolitan New York area. Some of their better known installation sites include: NBC Studio & Today Show Live Set, Theodore Roosevelt National Historic Site, S.U.N.Y Stony Brook University, and Walt Whitman’s Birthplace.
